ProjectB presenta In&Out in collaborazione con Xersesart di Londra.

Un esercizio culturale per portare in Italia alcuni tra gli artisti iraniani più rappresentativi
che affrontano tematiche legate tema dell’ identità attraverso differenti media svelando
come l’arte contemporanea iraniana vada vista al di là della cultura, della nazionalità e
della religione, con un occhio da chi vive dentro e chi fuori dall’Iran.

Accanto agli artisti che vivono all’interno dei confini nazionali, esiste un numero
significativo di artisti nati in Iran ma che vivono e lavorano all’estero.

Questi ultimi fanno parte del cosiddetto movimento della Diaspora Iraniana, che fu
coinvolto nei turbolenti eventi della rivoluzione e nel periodo immediatamente successivo.
Concetti come l’esilio, l’alienazione, la nostalgia, l’indigeno, il femminismo, la libertà e
assimilazione culturale, o l’assenza di tutto ciò pervadono questo insieme di opere
altamente raffinate.
In occasione della mostra un evento unico: la proiezione di Roads, documentario di Abbas
Kiarostami, 32 minuti, 2004. Il film ripercorre la fotografia del regista iraniano e segue il suo
viaggio fuori Tehran, in cui produce immagini di pura poesia.

PROJECTB is pleased to present the In & Out exhibition, organized in collaboration with
London’s Xerxes Art.

The exhibition will feature artists representing both spheres of Iranian
artists of today: those living and working in Iran and those living and working outside of
Iran.
In&Out brings to Italy representative Iranian artists, addressing themes related to identity
and history, through a diverse set of media, suggesting how Contemporary Iranian Art
needs to be seen as a distinct body: the progeny of a distinct national and cultural
identity, and not as part of a body of art from the wider geographical region.
In addition to Iran’s resident artists, which form the core of the contemporary art scene of
the country, there is a significant number of Iranian-born artists living and working outside
of Iran. The non-resident artists belong to the Iranian Diaspora caught in the events of the
Revolution and its aftermath.
Notions of exile, alienation, nostalgia, nationalism, and assimilation or lack thereof
permeate this group’s highly sophisticated work.
A unique event for the exhibition: the screening of Abbas Kiarostami 32 minutes docu-film
Roads that go back over the Iranian director photography and follows his journey, out of
Tehran while he is on the road, producing images of pure poetry.
