ProjectB è orgogliosa di presentare Il sole splenderà brillante sul vostro cadavere marcio mentre le vostre ossa risplendono al chiaro di luna, mostra personale di Jake e Dinos Chapman.

 

Gli artisti inglesi, noti come Fratelli Chapman, lavorano insieme dal 1992, anno in cui si sono diplomati presso il Royal College of Art di Londra.

 

I fratelli Chapman si esprimono con forme artistiche diverse: disegno, acquaforte, pittura, scultura e con installazioni a grandezza naturale. Attraverso il versatile e virtuosistico utilizzo di medium differenti e riferimenti alla storia dell’arte, i loro lavori descrivono un universo di tortura, violenza, orrore, sesso e manipolazione genetica. Un mondo in cui lo spettatore diventa un voyeur che assiste pietrificato a uno scenario che si fa beffe di qualsiasi accenno di sentimentalismo e fa capire che, sì, è possibile estetizzare l'orrore. 

 

 

In occasione della mostra a Milano presentano UNHAPPY FEET.

Un plastico tridimensionale che sconvolge l’ordine delle memorie percettive dell’infanzia e che vuole essere un'allegoria della sofferenza e del male.

Gli artisti hanno creato un mondo parallelo, in cui i pinguini sono i nazisti e i teneri orsi polari le vittime. Immaginate che il mondo venga ricoperto dai ghiacci: in questo ambiente glaciale sopravvivono solo animali. I pinguini devono abbandonare il Polo Sud per attraversare il mondo, divorando tutto ciò che trovano. La loro destinazione finale? Il Polo Nord, dove attaccano brutalmente balene, trichechi e orsi polari.

 

La mostra include altri lavori : acqueforti, pannelli, sculture e un tappeto con Ronald McDonald. Le opere ripercorrono il periodo dal 1997, anno della mostra Sensation a Londra, in occasione della quale presentarono per la prima volta i loro manichini tridimensionali - come Great Deeds Against the Dead, Zygotic Acceleration, Biogenetic, De-Sublimated Libidinal Model –, fino ad oggi.

 

 

 

BIOGRAFIA

Dinos Chapman è nato a Londra nel 1962. Jake Chapman è nato a Cheltenham nel 1966. Dinos ha studiato pittura, Jake scultura. Vivono e lavorano a Londra. Hanno esposto in tutto il mondo, Tra le mostre personali : Kestner Gesellschaft di Hannover (2008); Tate Britain (2007); Tate Liverpool (2006); Kunsthaus Bregenz (2005); museo Kunst Palast di Düsseldorf (2003); Modern Art Oxford (2003); PS1 Contemporary Art Center di New York (2000). Tra le mostre collettive: Mapping the Studio, Punta della Dogana, Venezia, (2009- 2010); Barock, Museo Madre, Napoli (2009 – 2010); Summer Exhibition 2007, Annenberg Courtyard; Royal Academy of Arts, Londra, ARS 06, Museo d'arte contemporanea KIASMA, Helsinki e Premio Turner, Tate Britain (2003).

ProjectB is proud to present The sun will shine brightly on your rotting corpse whilst your bones glimmer in the moonlight, a solo show by Jake and Dinos Chapman.

 

The British contemporary artists known as The Chapman Brothers have been collaborating since 1992, the year they graduated from the Royal College of Art.

 

The Chapman brothers work in versatile mediums - drawing, etching, painting, sculpture and life-size installation. Through their approach to all artistic mediums with high art references they invite the spectator into a world of torture, violence, horror, sex and genetics. By making you a party to this voyeurism you are transfixed by a world that mocks any hint of sentimentality, and teaches you that, yes, you can aestheticise horror.

 

For the show in Milan they will present UNHAPPY FEET.

A three-dimensional installation that shakes the rules that logically drive our childish memory. They have featured a parallel universe where the penguins are the Nazi’s and the cuddly polar bears the victims; a unique piece intended as an allegory of suffering and evil. Imagine the world has frozen over: in this glacial environment only animals survive. Penguins must leave the South Pole to travel across the globe where they devour everything they come across. Their final destination is the North Pole, where they brutally attack whales, walruses and polar bears.

 

Other works on show in Milan include skull panels, etchings, sculptures and a Ronald McDonald carpet. Works range from 1997, the year of the Sensation exhibition in London when they presented their famous three-dimensional plastic models of people, such as Great Deeds Against the Dead, shown along with Zygotic Acceleration, Biogenetic, De-Sublimated Libidinal Model to today.

 

 

 

BIO

Dinos Chapman was born in London 1962. Jake Chapman, in Cheltenham in 1966. They live and work in London. Dinos studied painting, Jake sculpture.

They have exhibited worldwide, including solo shows at Kestner Gesellschaft Hannover (2008), Tate Britain (2007), Tate Liverpool (2006), Kunsthaus Bregenz (2005), Museum Kunst Palast Düsseldorf (2003) and Modern Art Oxford (2003), and PS1 Contemporary Art Center, New York (2000). Amongst group exhibitions: Mapping the Studio, Punta della Dogana, Venice, 2009; Barock, Madre Museum, Naples ( 2009 – 2010); Summer Exhibition 2007, Annenberg Courtyard, Royal Academy of Arts, London, ARS 06, Museum of Contemporary Art KIASMA, Helsinki and the Turner Prize, Tate Britain (2003).
