PROJECTB10

For the 10th anniversary of the opening of the gallery in 2006, ProjectB is pleased to present a group show with current works by 12 representative artists in the gallery’s history. Works - including paintings, sculptures and photographs – narrate the path of the gallery in it’s ten years of activity. Research, technique and interaction with the exhibition space are the themes that have guided the choices, developed through the alternation of highly acclaimed and emerging Italian and foreign artists.

With a new oil paint by Jake & Dinos Chapman, a Marc Quinn’s sculpture and Keith Tyson works on aluminium, the first room reflects the progress of the early years of the gallery, founded in Milan in 2006 based on the idea of Emanuele Bonomi of bringing the exponents of “Young British Art” to Italy. A project that soon expanded into other geographical areas, from Spain to Iran to China – through two exhibitions on the Ash Paintings of Zhang Huan – with the aim of publicizing the work of artists already famous in their own countries, but still not well known on an international level, as in the case of the photography of Dionisio Gonzalez.

The gallery has always paid close attention to the new generations, with an observatory directed by Carlotta Loverini, in order to give visibility to the work of young European artists and curators: examples include the recent exhibition by the English painter Tom Anholt and the first solo show in Italy by the French photographer Noémie Goudal. Exhibitions that have often marked the beginning of a long path of collaboration and interesting debates, such as that on the use of color seen in the work of Ivan De Menis and Annie Morris, narrated on this occasion by the works shown in the second room, including the paintings of Hugo Wilson and of the Scottish painter Caroline Walker, whose third solo show in Italy will be held at the gallery next year.
