Marcos Lopez is a South American artist born in Santa Fe, Argentina in 1958.
His work is represented by Gallery Luis Fernando Pradilla (Madrid), Benzacar Gallery (Buenos Aires) and ProjectB Gallery (Milan). These galleries regularly show their work at major exhibitions of Contemporary Art (Chicago, Art Basel Miami, Paris Photo, Art BA, Feria MACO Mexico, FIA Caracas and Madrid ARCO).
EDUCATION
1976-1982
BA in Engineering at the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional. Became interested in Photography and starts doing pictures in 1978. In 1982 lefts University to focuse on Photography.
1981
Collaborate in Santa Fe with the historian and researcher Luis Priam in the rescue and preservation of glass plates and old photographs.
1982
Gets an improvement scholarship awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts. He moved to Buenos Aires and attends a prestigious series of workshops of Argentine and foreign photographers.
Between 1982 and 1983, made a documentary essay Neuropsychiatric Hospital Joseph T. Borda and psychotherapeutic work in a workshop of one year with patients.
1984
Participate in the creation of the core group of authors of photographs, along with 12 colleagues (Painter, Grossman, Perez Aznar, E.Gil ...). They worked for three years creating an environment for discussion, criticism and research of photography as a medium of expression, also conducting various exhibitions.
Connects with artists from other disciplines (L. Maresca, M. Schvartz ...) and participates in the design and implementation of collective projects: "La Kermesse", "Lavarte", "La Conquista", etc.
Works for documentary photography and with various independent media published in Buenos Aires: "Imaginary Express", "Banana", "Alfonsina", "El Porteño", "The Angel"and others.
1989
Integrates the first promotion of foreign scholars from the International School of Film and Television in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. Reside ½ years in Cuba as a student of the school where he made documentaries for 16 mm film and video.
Back to School invited by the Cuban writer Gabriel García Márquez to attend a TV Script Workshop for two months.
Works in Buenos Aires as assistant photographer and film lighting for a documentary and several feature films.
