1958
Marcos Lopez was born in the city of Santa Fe, Argentina.

1976
He studied at the National Tecnological University (Santa Fe) where he studied engineering for several years and began selftaught, to learn photography.

1982
He moved to Buenos Aires, where he continued his training. He became actively involved in group activities with colleagues and artists from other disciplines.

1984
He partecipated to the creation of the group Núcleo de Autores Fotográficos, with other 12 artists (Pintor, Grossman, Perez Aznar, E.Gil...).

1986
He was a member of the first group of foreign grantees at the International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Banos, Cuba, where he studied for a year and a half.

1989
He studied for one year at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión de San Antonio de los Baños, in Cuba, where he produced some shortmovies in 16mm.
He kept working in Buenos Aires as a movie director and photographic reporter.

1993
He won the First Prize of the Andy Goldstein Foundation, with a grant to finish his portraits in black and white and the publication of a book. Marcos Lopez-fotografias (Buenos Aires, La Azotea, 1993) He had 'Retratos', his first book, published.
At that point he began this series in color.


2000
La Marca edition published 'Poplatino', in Buenos Aires.

2001
He organized with Valeria Gonzalez the Exposition 'Al Sur del Sur' with eight Argentinian photographers. Between 2001 and 2002, he created his own group of photographic production with important teachers like Humberto Rivas, Pedro Meyer, Daniel Barraco, Tatiana Parcero.


2002 He is invited at MEIAC, Museo Extremeño Iberoamericano de Arte Contemporáneo, to photograph the Badajoz Carnival, with other Spanish photographers.(Alberto García Alix, Ricard Terre, etc) for the permanent collection of MEIAC.

2003
'Sub-realismo Criollo' is Publisher by the University of Salamanca. He is invited to the Encuentros Colombianos de Fotografía, in Medellín.

2004
He is invited to the 'Foro de Fotografía Latinoamericana' in México DF, organized from the Centro de la Imagen..

At present he lives in Buenos Aires, working as a photographer and director of independent videos. He has been involved in painting and photo-journalism as well as art and photographic direction for television commercials.
